Building Guitar Pro Hub – Spending too much time waiting on UltimateGuitar

TLDR; Check out Guitar Pro Hub

There is nothing I enjoy more than being able to pick up my guitar and have a little jam to take a small break from coding. I would LOVE to be able to have the time to be able to try and learn my favorite songs by ear, but there ain’t enough hours in the day!

I’ll just read the guitar tabs!

For a few years I have not spent time learning songs, but instead just played along with the tabs using a piece of software called Guitar Pro

Where’d you get the tabs?

The place I have always downloaded my tabs is from a site called Ultimate Guitar. You search for a song, likelihood is that they will have a tab for it! When I initially started using the site a good few years ago, it was a pleasant experience. There were a limited number of advertisements. You could download the tab you wanted in less than a minute. But things have changed

What made me want to build the Guitar Pro Hub application?

As I said…Ultimate Guitar changed! Now there are advertisements in more places. And also those annoying adverts where you have to wait a few seconds before you can go to the page you wanted to go to!

And it makes me feel like…

Enter Guitar Pro Hub

Luckily I don’t have to deal with that anymore! I have built an app using Ruby on Rails that allows me to search for a band and return the GuitarPro tabs for their songs.

I had so much fun making this app, and I’ll write a blog post on how this app works! I am not a designer, so the actually site does look a little basic 😅

Now it is time to ROCK!
